What Prayer at the Water's Edge Looked Like
- CHOOSE THE PLACE. People went to quiet places by the water-where they could be still and undisturbed. Solitutude helped the heart focus.
- PREPARE WITH HUMILITY. They washed hands and face. They straightened their clothes. They composed their hearts. They came with respect.
- PRAISE AND REMEMBER. Prayer began with praise. They remembered God's character, His faithfulness and His past provision.
- BRING YOUR REQUEST. They spoke their needs honestly-for provision, protection, wisdom, healing, or forgiveness.
- LISTEN IN SILENCE. They waited. Not always for words-sometimes for peace. They listened with the heart as much as with the ear.
- LEAVE WITH THANKFULNESS. They thanked God in advance, trusted His timing. and returned to their work-strengthened for what lay ahead
- DAILY PROVINENCE. For food, water, shelter and the needs of the household.
- PROTECTION. From floods, disease, enemies, wild animals and unseen dangers.
- GUIDANCE. For wise decisions, safe journeys and right choices.
- FAMILY AND COMMUNITY. For children, for neighbours, for unity and justice.
- A HEART THAT KNOWS GOD. For forgiveness, for healing, for a closer walk with God.
